Not the best person to answer as I have never taken gear but as a runner I can say for certain that a couple of weeks heavy drinking and little training can set you back months, I try not to these days as it gets harder to pull that fitness back to form. the extra weight you pile on doesn't help with times either

Again, years back I'd smoke week heavily and the crap I'd cough up after a long run would not be good at all, even now after the odd 'hazy' night I can feel the effects for days after on the chest.

Not exactly 'facts' as everyone will be different but true to me

Tens of thousands to alcohol...

Then....how many for steroids...ZERO!?

I wouldnt say zero die from steroids and if im honest i expect the number of steroid related deaths to rise dramaticly in the next 50 years. look how many boxers, bodybuilders, wrestlers and athletes in general are dying and have died due to cardiac issues. might not be directly steroid related but 90% of the time the steroids have done the damage (enlarged heart, years of high BP, stress on organs) As most of you know im a steroid user but i cant defend them, even done safely there are risks and a steroid user has a higher risk of a heart attack due to a enlarged heart be it while on steroids or 30 years down the line .... but to answer the question id say tobacco and alcohol are worse than steroids !

I totally agree with Robbie on this one, I also take steroids on a regular basis.

You hear this so many times "there is nothing wrong with taking steroids, nothing bad will happen if you use them properly"
It's all a crock of shit!
Steroids will mess you up in later life, it's as simple as that!
There is a certain person who is very well known in the world of bodybuilding and training and he is very very knowledgeable on steroids, In fact, he taught me everything I know about training and gear(most of you will know of him but I'm not naming him) He has been the person who is always in the news defending steroid use, if there is a documentary on about bodybuilding or gear then he will be on it! The news companies go to him if they need advice on an article, so you can see he obviously knows his stuff. He's a really good person and I respect him a great deal, However a few years ago he was taken in to hospital because he needed a heart operation, He has been using gear for many years and he knows what he's talking about but he will never admit that the heart surgery was due to steroid use, is this just a coincidence?
There are a lot of retired bodybuilders and athletes who now have heart problems or other steroid associated complaints, you guys work it out!

Are steroids safe? No they are not.
Are they the most dangerous out of steroids, tobacco and alcohol? They could be if you don't know what you're doing or you take too much!

Good posts, something to think about there

Are certain brands safer, ie 'you pay for what you get'??

lets have a new debate.... steroids or crystal meth

Well I knew it wasn't really zero...

But you just cant find any statistics on steroid related deaths.

Im sure they are there, but far to few to amount to alcohol and tobacco for sure.
