my short term goal right now is bringing up my one rep max on the bench press for a competition coming up. this is not normal for me because i usually bodybuild and just a little power lifting

As a firefighter I don't want someone to die because I was to weak to drag them out of a burning building. So I want to be strong and fit as possible.
