max lifts
#1

Just interested about how often people are really pushing themselves to test their max and set a new PB?
Do you only do it in a planned and calculated manor to peak for, or plan for a competition? Do you go for it whenever you're feeling particulary good in the gym?

Do you try and smash it every time you step foot through the gym door?

I train with some young lads (18-28) occasionally and whilst they don't try and smash it every work out they certainly try it out more often than I do.

I don't really try to max out very often these days. Did all that 20 odd years ago and just not worth the injury risk now. I prefer to add extra sets and reps when I want to push myself.

I know where you're coming from Andy on the low cals/carbs front! You need those f@#king carbs at times!

i believe tht everything has its own proper place and time.. and the only time tht i try to lift the world and to increase my nervous system in order to handle larger loads for hypertrophy training is on my blast cycle and then i switch to hypertrophy mode to increase muscle density .. when i get into a high cruise cycle..

GO GEAR OR GO HOME !!! Big Grin
