Biggest pet peeve at the gym?

What's your biggest pet peeve? What annoys you most when working out at the gym?

SkinnyGuy 06-11-2011 01:40 AM

People not putting away there weights. That kills me...

Cornish_Celt 06-11-2011 05:15 AM

Bicep boys, Mobile phones and weights not being put away!

lobo 06-11-2011 03:57 PM

Packs of kids round the bench press

sniper300c 06-12-2011 09:33 PM

loads of 'kids' well ok i'm getting old!!! ha ha
i mean students with mobiles tet and hogging everything, the day will come at some point soon where i end up losing it with them.

Big_Poppa_pump 06-13-2011 08:37 AM

mobiles, people who sit on the benches having a phone conversation while your waiting to use the bench!
Teens who shout and grunt when curling 5kg! While rocking backwards and forwards to get the weight up!

SkinnyGuy 06-13-2011 02:28 PM

ehh i dont get many teens at my gym but man there are some grandpas that will take up a tricep machine for looonger than necessary. When your pushing 80 you can give your tris a rest!

admin 06-16-2011 01:31 PM

Nothing... I am careless :D

ActiveTom 06-19-2011 05:47 AM

I'm a people watcher, so I notice a lot of bad habits!

The one I hate the most if when 3 people take turns doing 1 exercise. One guy is always out of his depth and they take up the weight and station for 10 minutes or more at a time, so no one can use it.

The guys who sit on a machine doing 3 minute breaks between sets and if you ask if you can jump on in between sets, they say no. Usually nursing a bottle of water and watching the tv.

This guy at my gym always comes in at peak times. He will put his towel, water bottle and keys on an adjustable bench and walk off. Do some fit ball crunches and complain if someone is using the bench he had his stuff on when he gets back. If you ask him if hes using the bench he gets arsey and says "my stuff is on it, what do you think that means?" Even then, when I've seen him get back to the bench all he used it for was resting a barbell (pre-set weight ones, not an oly bar) on it for his upright rows!

The people who think its a social club and actually stand in a crowd in the free weights area taking up all the room while just talking to each other.

I dont mind the mobile phones if they dont make a sound. I use mine, but only to write down my reps for each set into it for journal purposes. I also look back at previous workouts to see if I am ready to go up a weight. So while it might look like I am texting, I'm actually logging my work.

Bad spotters. If you ask someone for a spot and they leave you hanging on in there for over 5 seconds before they assist you and even then, they just lift the whole weight rather than coax it up so you get the most from it.

Handinpants 06-19-2011 10:18 AM

^^^lol you notice alot. but i totally agree with everything.

ha ha Tom i totally agree with eveything you've put

SkinnyGuy 06-20-2011 05:08 PM

Alright I don't leave and use another machine but I do leave to fill up my water bottle and put my towel on the bench?is that still a gym foul? but on the other hand I'm a firm believer of letting people "work in" with me should I be resting or what not.

Ha, very well said!!

I'd have to say:

-People who camp out on a piece of equipment just to chat.

-Horrid top forty music - that you hear over and over and over and over again lol

-Those who wear cologne to "cover up" their BO - I walk away gagging with tears in my eyes from the stench.... lol

-Watching people drive around the parking lot just to find the closest parking spot to the gym.. um..

stpete 06-30-2011 06:40 PM

People that don't re-rack their weights, cell phones and excessive grunting.

biggin 01-29-2013 12:25 PM

People sitting on a machine having a conversation or someone using the squat rack to use it for straightbar curls.....with no weight on it. Just go use the little straight bar and put some 2.5's on it asshole!

mrbojangles 01-29-2013 02:13 PM

I have my headphones in for a reason. Im there to workout, not lollygag and talk about my workday. When im in the zone doing a set dont be asking me dumb questions please.

ncspacy 01-29-2013 02:20 PM

Home Gym FTW:D

Only have to worry about taking kiddo to the potty.

HE MANN 01-31-2013 03:21 PM

Young punks who shout and yell then slam the weights. Then you look and they are only benching a mere 135 .

6150 01-31-2013 03:24 PM

Folks not racking weights back.

Stpat529 01-31-2013 04:56 PM

Sweat, left on the benches or any equipment!!! Clean your bodily fluids up bitch!

Sent via mental transmission.

JJohnston82 01-31-2013 06:48 PM

All of what you guys said + hats.

At my gym there are a few kids who will come in sagged jeans showing their boxers, tight fitting shirts and a baseball hat on backwards, sideways, crooked and leaning forward, whatever.

These are usually the kids who weigh about 150lbs and walk around as if they own the gym. This is not a fashion show, this is the gym. I've been tempted on more than one occasion to give em a swift kick in the head:mad:

eazy 01-31-2013 06:50 PM

That awkward moment when you think you are going to do a silent fart..but it comes out like a machine gun!

Eurovisionas 02-01-2013 11:52 PM

People trying to lifT much more weight that they can handle and have a spotter assist from the 1st until the 10th rep LOL.Guess what you little shit, a spotter is there to help you with the last two reps, not hold half the weight for 10 reps!!! And then they have this invisible attidude of 'Damn I'm REALLY good and strong'

If anyone is like that in here... please... KILL YOURSELF!!!

oldfart 02-03-2013 02:41 AM

Yeah I'd have to say they fu#$%&&$ spaz thata trying to jerk more weight than they can handle and making a loud pssssshhhhhh like trying to dead 4hun

13uie67 04-30-2014 06:50 AM

dude my biggest pet peeve is when people come up to me and they try to b.s. there way through on how to explain something whether it be ,, nutrition , weight lifting in general . or about gear !!!!!! dude its like he brp you dont have to le to kick it....lmao i just have no respect for those kind of peeps.. there just filling up space for real gear heads to occupy !!!

or when i see someone with a training freaking training shirt on and there either over weight or with virtually no muscle or not even in shape... there just there for a paycheck and bragging right to pick up bitches.. yall know who u are..lol

smitdog23rd 05-06-2014 08:23 PM

Peeps using their damn phones, Peeps that want to talk than lift, and not putting weights away. All that annoys the hell out of me

13uie67 05-07-2014 02:53 AM

what about the peeps tht use the machines or bench for a resting spot... like the dudes tht take 5 minutes per set .. lmao

gordonh45 05-30-2014 02:04 AM

People on the phone, people leaving trash in the gym, people not spotting another person when they see they need it. The hats in the gym doesn't bother me. I live in the country, so it's quite common. People who are squatters on the cables= chaps my ass.

William011 03-24-2016 04:55 PM

I hate when guys stare at ever female who walks in

My gym has few females, because dip shits don't know how to control themselves.

admin 07-26-2016 11:43 AM

Yeah, that was good one, I hate that too. The long discussion between sets does not help you concentrate better on next set.
