Default eazy will no longer be throwing the yoke away.!

Many bodybuilders and health enthusiasts insist on ditching whole eggs in favor of the egg whites. This practice seems to stem from the idea that egg yolks contain fat (and cholesterol) and therefore are inherently useless and unhealthy. However, this supposition is wildly shortsighted.

Consider this, an egg white is literally a few grams of protein with minute amounts of micronutrients. The egg yolk, on the other hand, is a highly nutrient-dense food, containing nominal amounts of B vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins (like Vitamin A/E/D/K), and is a good source of the heart-healthy essential fatty acid DHA.

Furthermore, if you avoid whole eggs (and/or yolks) for fear of their cholesterol content, research thus far has suggested that dietary cholesterol is not as significant of a factor as saturated fat intake is when it comes to raising cholesterol levels. [3] In fact, some studies suggest that eating a few whole eggs per day may actually improve the blood lipid profile and insulin sensitivity of an individual. [4]

The bottom line

The main thing to draw from this is that foods are much more than just their macronutrient composition and calorie content. The plus side to egg whites is that they’re low in calories and contain quality protein, but this comes at the cost of being devoid of much else nutritionally. Contrarily, egg yolks are micronutrient-dense and also a great source of protein and*essential fatty acids.

Obviously egg yolks have more calorie content due to the extra macronutrients, but they are not “empty calories”. Also, thanks to the fat content, egg yolks will be quite a bit more satiating than an egg white.

At the end of the day, you shouldn’t be afraid to keep a few egg yolks when making your morning omelet. Just think, when you eat whole eggs, you are getting the best of both worlds and you don’t have to sit around separating each egg worrying that any drop of yellow in your frying pan will kill you

I've never thrown the yolk away it's one of those things I never agreed with.
If you're going to have eggs then use the whole egg

You just know I'm going to agree with this! If you really do need to cut calories/fat, then cut them somewhere else.

Whole eggs are one of natures superfoods!

It was thought, many long years ago, that cholesterol in eggs turned into or raised cholesterol in the body. It must be at least 20 years ago that I first started reading that this was a crap theory.

I should be surprised but I'm not, that many people people still don't know that this isn't the case. It's like I said in another post a while ago, if no one tells you or you don't get the correct information from those who do tell you eg the media, then how are you supposed to know anything.

That's part of what these forums are all about. Somewhere to give your thought processes a wake up call.

Don't take anyone's word as being the outright truth, but if you read something that goes against what you thought was true, then look into it further. They might be talking crap or you might realise that the article you read somewhere and that you have believed for years was in fact completely out of step with everyone else.

New research turns up new findings all the time. I can't remember the exact reason why cholesterol in eggs was originally thought to be harmful, but I'm sure it was because the research of the day determined that it was. New research has since determined that it isn't.

I tend to take the view that most - I don't mean poisonous mushrooms and other harmful things - forms of food in a natural state is safe and healthy to eat. Eggs are natural. We are supposed to eat them. If we find loads, then we would eat loads! Why would nature make them unhealthy.

I could bang on about why beef isn't that good any more due to what they put into cows and why farmed salmon isn't as good as naturally reared in the sea salmon but I won't. That's for another day.
